A two-year-old Labrador has been stolen from his front yard in Melbourne in broad daylight.

An urgent search is now underway for Leo, a black Labrador cross French mastiff, who was in the yard of the property on Park St in Brunswick behind a latched gate when he was taken.

At 4.16pm on Sunday CCTV footage captured a man getting out of a silver Toyota Kluger before he went over to the gate and walked Leo to the car by his collar.

He then drove away and the dog hasn’t been seen since.

“He’s just our little guy and we just want him back. I don’t want to think about him out there frightened and just wondering where we are. It’s just the worst,” Leo’s owner Courtney Beaumont told Sunrise.

Police said the Kluger could be seen on video parked outside the house for about an hour before Leo was stolen.

The car also had stolen number plates with the registration TCD849.

On Tuesday, police released images of Leo, CCTV footage of the theft and a picture of the car.

Anyone who might have dashcam or CCTV footage or any other information is urged to contact police.
